Description:

This is a bcd code G43 rifle that was manufactured by Gustloff-Werke. These rifles were the first true production G43 rifles. They are characterized by the type 1 milled receiver and milled components. It is estimated that only approximately 40,000 of this type were produced with the probability that this model was assembled at the Buchenwald concentration camp under the SS, as noted in "Hitler's Garands". The left side of the receiver is marked with the "WaA749" Waffenampt proof, below that is "bcd" which is the war time code for Gustloff-Werke, Buchenwald, the serial number and the deep "G43" marking, followed by another Waffenamt proof. The matching numbered bolt carrier is also the early type 1 milled version similar to the G41 series of rifles and it retains the cocking knob on the left side and the bolt hold open latch on the right side. The receiver still retains the dove tailed scope rail. The action housing is the correct stamped version with the automatic dust cover. These receivers milled and marked were made in France at St. Etiene and are usually marked with a "WaA134". They were shipped to the Gustloff Werke facility at Buchenwald and assembled by the camp prisoners under SS Supervision. The rifle is equipped with a threaded barrel, raised ramp hooded front sight, rear tangent sight graduated to 1200 meters and cleaning rod with slotted head. The stock and handguard are laminated, the left side of the buttstock has two Waffenamt proofs and it has a cupped buttplate with compartment containing an extra firing pin. The rifle is accompanied with a "aye" marked magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% original blue finish with wear limited to the receiver from cycling the action, and some thinning and edge wear on the trigger guard. The stock is very fine with exception of a shallow gouge on the left wrist and overall a few minor dents and dings. Crisp and clear markings (highlighted in white). The action is excellent.
