Marked "bnz/ Sig rune/ 4", reportedly the marking of rifles reworked using labor from the Steyr-Munichholz concentration camp. Left side of receiver marked "Karab. 98b". A subcamp of the Mauthausen-Gusen camp, the Steyr camp was established especially for skilled laborers to be used in the Steyr factory and surrounding areas, and would be liberated by the Allies in 1945. Hooded blade and tangent sights, with eagle "6" and "43" proofs next to a script "S" on the right side of the ring. Milled barrel bands, with stamped "byf" (Mauser) trigger guard and floor plate. Matching numbers on the bolt handle and floor plate. Smooth stock, with a "prg" stamped cupped buttplate. With a "44fnj" (Coppel, Solingen) bayonet, 10" blade, ribbed grip, matching numbered sheath and russet leather frog.

Rating Definition:

Arsenal refurbished, with 98% of the dull blue finish, showing a few light handling marks. Stock is very fine, with some mild pressure dents. A rough brown patina is visible on the sheath, with the bayonet excellent. Mechanically excellent.
