Description:

This is a near new early example of an experimental WWII German G33/40 Mountain carbine that was produced as a test carbine mounting a ZF41 sniper or shooting aid, sniper scope. There have been several pictures that depicts this type of mounting system on a G33/40 however no verifiable example ever surfaced. Based on the serial number of this specific carbine (number 2) this is an actual example of this rare carbine. This is a standard G33/40 mountain carbine with the small ring receiver and lightening cutouts on the receiver and bolt, that was subsequently modified by installing a one piece G33/40 machined rear sight base with an integral side mounted dovetail slot for the ZF41 scope mount. The side and rear of the walnut hand guard has also been milled out to allow for mounting and dismount of the scope, while the underside of the hand guard has a metal reinforcing ring in place to strengthen it. The scope was produced by Emil Busch, Rathenow and it carries the "cxn" makers code with a small blue + symbol and is an earlier version that has had the markings milled off and then remarked ZF41/1 in the cutout. The mount is correct wartime version that is marked with a single "duv" wartime makers code over an "eagle 214" proof. The underside of the barrel is stamped with a double "Eagle 63" proof. The top of the receiver is marked "945/1941" for the wartime code for the Bruno factory along with the year of manufacture. The serial number "2" is stamped on the left side of the receiver ring with a single WaA623 Waffenamt on the right side. The top of the hand guard is stamped "dot" also the wartime time for the Bruno factory. The stock is a standard G33/40 version that is ink or pencil marked inside the barrel channel with " 6.27.41.PH" along with the penciled number "2" and the stamped number "2". The underside of the laminated stock has the standard "dot" and Waffenamt proofs along with a stamped number "2", and it has the regular cupped metal butt plate with the protector plate on the left side. It has a standard G33/40 bolt that is also stamped with a single number "2" on the back side of the handle while the cocking piece and bolt shroud are all unnumbered. It is complete with a brown cross-hatched, leather sling that has been stamped with a single "ctg/44" and Waffenamt on the inside.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 99% of the blue finish overall on all the metal parts with clear sharp markings. The scope and mount also have 99% of their blue finish with clear optics. The stock and hand guard are both in excellent condition with minimal handling marks. The rifle has all matching serial numbers "2", the scope is unnumbered. An exceptionally rare Experimental G33/40 mountain carbine with the ZF41 scope.
