This is a nice example of a very late K98 rifle manufactured at the Mauser factory. The top of the receiver is marked "Mod. 98" over "byf 45". There is a "eagle / 135" proof on the top and right side of the receiver and eagle firing proof and serial number on the left side. All blue finish with phosphate bolt. Hooded raised ramp front sight and adjustable rear tangent sight graduated to 200 meters, correct stamped parts with barrel bands correctly screwed to the stock and mounted with a one piece pistol grip stock with firing pin hole in the cupped buttplate. There are various Nazi proofmarks on the stock. Sling absent.

Excellent plus. The rifle retains 99% plus original blue and phosphate finish with some minor spotting on the breech end of the barrel and some high edge wear. The bolt also retains 99% original phosphate finish with some wear on the handle. The stock is excellent with a few minor dents and dings. There is some moderate pitting on the buttplate. The markings (most highlighted in white) are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. An exceptional late war byf 45 code Mauser rifle that appears unissued.
