Description:

1) E & F Horster Production Italian Air Force Sword with Etched Decoration. Produced in Solingen, for use by the Italian Air Force. Single fuller blade, 29 3/4" long, with the Horster mark on the right ricasso and extensive etched decoration, including an Italian coat of arms on the left side of the blade and a crowned eagle on the reverse. The guard is decorated as a feathery wing, with a retention clip on the left side, wire wrapped wood grip, oak leaf collar and eagle head pommel with red eyes and crown shaped nut. With a brass fitted black leather sheath, decorated with scrollwork, oak leaves, and a design of a twin-bladed propeller backed by a rotary engine on the tip. 2) Spanish Artillery sword, 35" single edge single fuller blade, marked "1929" on the left ricasso and "ARTILLERIA/ NACIONAL" on the right. Browned steel handguard, with checkered grips and a flat pommel cap. With a blued steel sheath, stamped "TOLEDO" near the throat, with hanging ring. 3) Japanese Naval Sword, 25 1/4" single edge single fuller blade with a faint straight temper line, gold washed collar, gilt knuckle guard, wire wrapped rayskin grip and raised carved backstrap with leaf and chrysanthemum designs. With a nickel finished sheath.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good, with some pitting concentrated at the tip, sharp etching, a mixed patina on the brass, undersized grip, and good sheath with loose throat and mild handling marks. 2) Very good, with some dings and spotting on the blade mixed patina on the guard and sheath, and mild wear on the grip. 3) Very fine, with some light spotting on the blade, strong gold finish, fine aged patina on the visible brass, some wire loss, and moderate spots and scuffs on the sheath. Blade is excellent.
