Bound with mottled pattern covers and a leatherette spine with gold decoration and text "HARPER'S WEEKLY/ AND/ FRANK LESLIE'S". Measuring 2 7/10" thick, the volume contains a very large quantity of papers, starting with September 5, 1857 and ending June 29, 1867 for the Harper's section, and starting April 25, 1857 and ending September 6, 1862 for the Leslie's section. Included within are editorials claiming that Central Park will never get off the ground, advertisements for Deringer pistols and consumption cures, and a large number of vintage woodcut images, including full and 2-page spreads of Civil War scenes, soldiers in formation, and work being performed on the Capitol Dome.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The binding is coming undone, with the rear cover separated and the spine partially detached. The pages within are in fine to very fine condition, with a few torn pages and mild yellowing and edge foxing overall.
