Description:

Manufactured from 1860 to 1868, this Model 1, 2nd Issue revolver features a blade front and notch rear sights, 7 round un-fluted cylinder, square flared butt, blue barrel and cylinder and silver plated brass frame. The top of the barrel is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS" and the cylinder is marked with the patent dates. Fitted with smooth two piece grips. The right panel is numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 40% of the original blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The frame shows 90% of the original silver finish with some minor flaking and darkening with age. The cylinder retains traces of the original blue finish with strong blue on the faces and a brown/gray patina on the remainder. The grips are very fine with some darkening on the left panel and light handling marks overall. Mechanically very good.

Description:

Manufactured in 1876, Features the long cylinder flutes and locking slots on the back. Marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./ HARTFORD,CT U.S.A." top of the barrel, "COLT NEW 22" is clearly etched on the left side of the barrel. "22 CAL" is marked on the left side of the frame. Nickel finish with niter blue, cylinder pin, trigger, screws and hammer top with polished sides. Blade front and frame notch rear sights. Fitted with smooth varnished rosewood grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel and frame retain 90% of the original nickel finish with some flaking near the muzzle and on the frame around the cylinder. The cylinder retains 70% of the original nickel finish with the balance showing a gray patina and some frosting. The hammer shows strong niter blue. Grips are excellent with light handling marks overall. Mechanically needs work, cylinder does not turn when hammer cocked.
