Originally a Civil War muzzleloading rifle-musket that was one of a reported 5,020 subsequently converted to a breech loader using the Needham side opening system for use with centerfire cartridges. These rifle-muskets were famously used in the Fenian raids on Canada after the Civil War. Faint cartouche oval present on the left side flat of the stock.

Fair overall with grey patina, pitting throughout, and spotting near the muzzle. Stock is refinished with scattered dings and chips. Breech door has some play, otherwise mechanically functions.
