Receiver manufactured c. June 1945, with a type 3 "lock-bar" adjustable peep rear sight assembly with staked pinion, unmarked U.S. Springfield Armory pattern wide-base gas cylinder with chamfered lock, solid lower band retaining pin, arsenal replacement "SA 4-47" barrel with bright chamber ring, "-17SA/B4A" bolt, relief-cut "9 SA" flat-side operating rod, "13" follower, and "-8-SA" trigger housing with "-3 SA" hammer, "-9SA" safety, and unmarked milled trigger guard. Fitted with a set of walnut handguards and a walnut stock bearing a boxed "S.A./S.H.M." (U.S. Springfield Armory, Col. Stephen H. McGregor) rebuild cartouche and "ordnance wheel" stamp on the left of the wrist, along with a circled serif "P" firing proof on the grip. Includes a matching consignor provided data sheet which confirms the rifle's configuration, dated October 23, 1982, with the added detail of a throat erosion measurement of "2", a M1 pattern web sling, along with a M3A1 combination tool, plastic grease pot, and plastic oiler stowed in the butt trap. Very fine as arsenal refurbished, retaining most of the finish with some limited minor edge wear, minor cycling wear, dried arsenal grease in the action, some scattered minor discoloration, and some scattered minor handling marks. The stock is also very fine as arsenal sanded, re-oiled, and re-stamped with a few minor compression marks and crisp stamps. Mechanically excellent.
