Description:

1) Airship Hindenburg commemorative travel case, measuring 16" x 11 1/2" x 5", leather construction with a scene of a zeppelin over the water near New York City and a banner reading "Congratulations on your 2nd cruise with D.Z.R., 1934-36." on the lid. This case would have been issued the year before the Hindenburg met its fate at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey in one of the most infamous disasters in aviation history. Inside the case is a Graf Zeppelin themed postcard and a commemorative envelope from a trans-Arctic polar flight by the Graf Zeppelin in 1931. Fine, with mild wear and stains. 2) "Zeppelin-Weltfahrten," a soft cover book/cigarette card album exploring the history of the airship from 1899 to the around the world flight of the Graf Zeppelin in 1932. It appears (but is not guaranteed) to contain a complete set of photos. Fine overall, with mild wear and staining. Provenance: The Putnam Green/Sycamore Collection
