Description:

Measures 29" in total length with the 23 inch blade showing double fullers, 6" false edge with nicely executed gold accented leafy vine work on the spine and each ricasso showing border designs, vine work and a radiant burst surrounding a Fleur-de-lis. While most strongly associated with the French, the Fleur-de-lis was also used by the Scottish, Bosnians, and others. The pistol section runs along the right side of the blade, with a cannon muzzle, a leafy engraved wedge just ahead of the chamber, and scroll engraving on the underside, where the trigger guard connects to a full length knuckle guard. Fitted with a gold accented one piece iron grip, with a floral pattern around the pommel, border designs, scroll patterns and a scene on either side, with the right showing a hunter in the field holding a rifle, with a pointer indicating an area in the brush, and the reverse showing a hunter kneeling and drawing a bead on a fleeing rabbit. Center mounted hammer, with the left side of the grip encasing a portion of the pistol frame and a one piece rounded trigger guard/knuckle guard.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The blade and pistol show a mixed gray patina overall with patches of brown and scattered pitting. The hilt is a solid brown with some mild pitting. At least half of the original gold remains, with wear concentrated on the grip. Mechanically functions but needs minor work. The blade remains sharp and appears that it has not been sharpened.
