Description:

Designed by Captain John H. Hall, the Model 1819 was the U.S. Army's first breech loading long arm, as well as the first arm with fully interchangeable parts. Blade and fixed notch sights, properly offset to the left, with the breech marked "J.H. HALL/ H. FERRY/ US/ 1838" perpendicular to the bore. The breech catch is the proper "trigger" design, with the extended pistol grip trigger guard. Smooth straight grip stock with button head ramrod, sling swivels, three barrel bands and smooth flat buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% plus of the original brown finish, showing areas of bright gray on the muzzle and high edges and some mild handling marks. Stock is also excellent, with a few small chips and dings. Mechanically excellent. Appears unissued!
