Description:

Blade front and three leaf rear sights, "V/ P/ eagle head" on the left flat and "1855" on the tang. Lock plate is marked "U.S./ SPRINGFIELD" at the front, American eagle on the Maynard primer door, and "1856" at the rear. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a swiveling ramrod, brass furniture and iron backstrap with stock slots. The buttstock has brass furniture and an iron sling swivel, with "WH" scratched on the front of the mounting hardware.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus, with some spotting and mild handling marks on the bright finish, along with a few small areas of pitting. The wood is also very good, with pressure dents, scratches, and a slightly loose fit to the totally original buttstock. Mechanically fine.
