This flintlock pistol is one of approximately 18,000 Model 1836 pistols manufactured by Robert Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut between 1836 and 1844. Standard U.S./Johnson lock plate markings with the date 1837. The left side of the barrel at the breech is marked "U.S. / NWP / P" and "S H". The left sock flat is marked with two crisp original oval cartouches and a small letter "H".

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The revolver has a mottled brown-gray patina with some minor pitting and spotting. The stock is fine with sharp cartouches, some minor dings and scratches. Action functions fine but needs minor work as the hammer does not release properly when trigger is pulled.
