A) U.S. Waters Model 1836 Percussion Conversion Pistol

Description:

Converted to percussion with a cone alteration. Lock plate is marked with an eagle head over "A.H. WATERS & CO / MILBURY MASS / 1844". The barrel is marked "JH / P" at the breech and the side plate is marked "S.B.S." No visible markings on stock.

Rating Definition:

Good. The pistol has been cleaned many years ago and now has aged to a mottled brown-gray patina with some minor pitting. The stock is very good with a carved letter "A" on the underside and some minor handling marks. Mechanically functions, but does not go to full cock.

Description:

Manufactured from 1836 to 1844. Standard U.S./Johnson lock plate markings with the date 1837. The left side of the barrel at the breech is marked "U.S. / NWP / P" and "S H". The left stock flat has two faint cartouches.

Rating Definition:

Good. The pistol has a smooth brown patina with some minor pitting (mostly on the barrel). The buttcap has some minor dings. Missing the swivel ramrod hardware, upper vise jaw, and vise screw. The stock is good with a hairline crack near the barrel band, a minor crack near the lock, and a series of minor pressure dents on the grip (right side), along with some minor handling marks.
