Description:

The lock plate is marked with an eagle above "US". The left side of the barrel has three U.S. proof and inspection marks at the breech, with the letter "V" on the upper tang. Three barrel bands with the front band having a blade sight and the middle band having a sling swivel. A bayonet lug is present on the underside of the barrel at the muzzle. Smooth full length stock with a sling swivel in front of the trigger guard and a button head iron ramrod. "V / BM" is stamped on the left stock flat.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle has a mottled gray patina with a small area of checkered machine marks on the barrel near the breech (right side). There is some minor pitting and spotting. The stock is very good with a minor crack near the lock and near the lower tang (with filler material), and a few missing minor chips, along with some minor handling marks. "XIV" is carved on the buttstock, with "IMW" on the left flat.
