Manufactured in 1863. The top barrel flat is marked with the one line New York U.S. America address, "COLTS / PATENT" on left side of frame and "36 CAL" on the left side trigger guard shoulder. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas naval battle scene. The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and backstrap, with the partial serial number, "1101" marked on the arbor pin, wedge and cylinder. The loading lever is mismatched with the barrel catch being a crude period replacement. Fitted with a smooth one piece grip. Complete with a period leather flap holster.

Rating Definition:

Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled brown patina with some traces of original blue finish on the barrel. There are a number of minor dings on the cylinder and the scene is mostly visible. There are traces of the original silver plating in protected areas, otherwise the brass has an aged patina. The grip is good with scattered original varnish, some minor chips and wear along the lower edge and overall a few minor dents and dings. The markings are clear. The action is very good. The holster is fair with heavy age cracking and some flaking, the belt loop and flap strap are fully intact and the stitching is tight.
