A) Starr Arms Model 1863 Single Action Revolver

Description:

Manufactured between 1863 and 1865. The left side of the frame is marked "STARR.ARMS.Co.NEW.YORK." and the reverse is marked "STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15. 1856.". Small "L" proofs are present on the barrel, cylinder, top strap and frame. Matching numbers on the barrel, lug, cylinder and frame. Smooth one piece grip with a faint cartouche on the left side.

Rating Definition:

Good, with a mixed brown and gray patina overall, showing traces of original finish in the protected areas and scattered handling marks and pitting. Grips are fair, lightly sanded, with some mild pressure dents. Action needs work.

Description:

This model is sometimes referred to as the "Old Army Model" and features the distinctive channel cut along the top of the loading lever to allow removal of the cylinder pin without dropping the loading lever. Brass cone front and frame groove rear sights, with "PATENTED DEC. 17 1861 / MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS' ILION. W N.Y." marked on top of the barrel. Inspection letters "C", "J" and "P" appear on various parts sometimes with more than one side by side. The serial number is marked on the underside barrel flat and on the rear of the cylinder. Brass trigger guard and smooth two piece grips.

Rating Definition:

Good, with a mixed brown patina overall, along with patches of pitting and handling marks. Grips are fair, with some cuts on the butt, chips and scratches. Mechanically fine.
