Description:

Manufactured in 1853. The top barrel flat is marked with the bracketed two line address and "COLTS / PATENT" is marked on the left side of the frame. The number "3" is marked on the lower left side of the barrel lug and on the cylinder, with "8" on the upper left front of the trigger guard bow. The cylinder is roll engraved with the stagecoach holdup scene. The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, cylinder, and backstrap. The partial serial number "3063" is marked on the loading lever and arbor pin, and the wedge is mis-matched. Blue barrel and cylinder, casehardened frame and loading lever, and silver plated brass trigger guard and backstrap. Brass post front and hammer notch rear sights, and fitted with smooth varnished one piece walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces have a smooth silver gray patina with some fine pitting on the muzzle end of the barrel. The trigger guard and backstrap retain 80% of the original silver plating with an aged patina on the exposed brass. The grip is fine with much of the varnish, some lower edge wear and a few minor dings and dents. The markings and cylinder scene are clear. The action is fine.
