Manufactured in 1882, this is a Third Model rifle with the dust cover guide rail integrally machined to the receiver. German silver blade front and ladder rear sights. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address/patent dates information, "{MODEL 1876}" on the upper tang, and serial number on the lower tang. There is no caliber marking (barrel gauges at .45 caliber). Smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel end cap and steel crescent buttplate with compartment.

Very good as period refinished, barrel and magazine tube. The rifle retains noticeable traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a smooth brown patina with some scattered minor spotting and pitting. The right side plate is slightly dented. The hammer and lever retain scattered traces of silvered out original case colors. The refinished wood has some minor dings and scratches. The action functions, but is slightly out of time, thus causing it to lock up on occasion.
