Manufactured in 1891. The special order part-octagon size 3 barrel is marked with the two line Winchester address followed by "32-40" at the breech, all marked on the top barrel flat. The barrel is equipped with a German blade front sight and an adjustable buckhorn rear sight, with the upper tang having a Vernier sight base only. The lower tang is marked with the 1879 patent date and the serial number. Blued barrel with casehardened action. The action has a scarce single set trigger. The deluxe checkered walnut Schnabel forearm and pistol grip stock have an ebony forend tip and ebony grip insert. The stock has a raised cheekpiece and is fitted with a nickel plated Swiss buttplate which incorporates the square top tang. No factory letter is available to writer at time of description to verify any of the above mentioned features.

Fine. The barrel retains 60% of the faded original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina with some minor spotting. The action has mottled brown-gray patina. The buttplate has an attractive even aged brass patina. The wood is also very fine with some minor handling marks. Overall the checkering is crisp. Mechanically fine.
