Description:

Manufactured from 1897 to 1916. This model is very similar to the No. 51 except they were equipped with the full loop lever, better quality and fancier engraving on the receiver, fancy checkered pistol grip stock and a heavy Schuetzen style buttplate. This rifle is quipped with heavy number 1 weight barrel numbered to gun, a combination beach and two folding leaf sights and a tang peep sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the two line address/patent date, the upper left flat is marked "22. L.R." and the serial number is marked on the underside of the barrel and lower tang. The receiver feature a floral scroll motif. Double set trigger and mounted with checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a cheekpiece and Schuetzen buttplate. The letter "C" is stamped on the underside of the stock.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 30% original blue finish mixed with smooth brown patina with some scattered minor pitting. The receiver has a smooth gray patina and the buttplate has a smooth dark brown patina. The buttstock has been repaired at the wrist, otherwise the wood is good with numerous minor pressure markings, dings, and scratches. The checkering shows some wear with the wrist remaining crisp. There is a moderate chip absent at the upper right side at the receiver.
