This is an excellent example of a pre-war German Luftwaffe contract Krieghoff Luger that was produced in 1937.These Krieghoff Lugers all featured the pre-war high quality commercial rust blued finish with straw colored small parts. The Krieghoff Luger was the only officially approved luger that was used by the Luftwaffe and it is estimated that approximately 2500 lugers were produced in 1937. The specific pistol is a mid 1937 production model that has the correct C-2 type marking on the toggle that consist of "H-K anchor/Krieghoff/Suhl" which has the letter "I" over the letter "S" in Suhl with the slightly angled letter "U" with the right corner faulted. The chamber is correctly dated "1937". The right side of the barrel extension has the has the early LWaA1st-stage II inspection stamp with the Luftwaffe acceptance proof. The barrel is correctly marked on the underside with the bore diameter, LWaA inspection proof then the serial number along with a second Luftwaffe barrel proof on the right side. The side of the breech block and toggle assembly has the correct LWaA proof marks and are correctly matching numbered. The full serial number is on front left side of the barrel extension, bottom of barrel, and front of the frame, and the last two digits of the serial number "78" are on the trigger, breech bolt, take down lever, thumb safety lever, side plate, and toggle assembly. The extractor and safety are correctly marked "GELADEN" and GESICHERT respectively. It is fitted with a correct pair of Krieghoff brown plastic grips with the coarse checkering and smooth border around the edges with NO mold marks or proofs on the back side. This pistol has a single extruded magazine that has the unmarked nickel plated body with the aluminum base that is proofed with a single LWaA Eagle 2 proof upside down over the serial number 6916.

Very fine. With 98% blued finish with some partial restoration on the front and rear grip straps and the side plate. The restoration matches the rest of the pistol perfectly. The various small parts retain approximately 80% of their original straw color showing just minor age fading. The grips are also in excellent plus condition overall with just a couple of very minor handling marks on the left side with no cracks or damage. An attractive example of a pre-war Krieghoff Luftwaffe contract Luger.
