This high quality, hand built shotgun is manufactured by Krieghoff in partnership with German Gunsmith Jens Ziegenhahn. Each shotgun is hand made and available on a custom order only and are limited to a rate of only 10 a year. The Essencia was introduced at the Vintage Cup World Side by Side Championship and Exhibition in September of 2003. The shotgun won a Silver Award in the New European Side Lock Guns at the Vintage Cup and was also awarded "The Shooting Sportsman Magazine Award" for "a contemporary custom fitted game gun that best typifies the ideal for upland hunting." These shotguns combine elegant lines with excellent handling and balance. This shotgun features 28" solid rib barrels with a single brass bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib. The top of the rib is marked "KRIEGHOFF Made in Germany". The breech end of the rib and around the front sight feature a small wedge of scroll engraving. The chambers gauge at 3 1/4", choked gauge at improved cylinder/modified and it is equipped with ejectors. The action and locks feature fine English scroll engraving and "KRIEGHOFF" is engraved in gold on each lock and "ESSENCIA" on the underside. The engraving design extends to the trigger guard, break lever and forearm hardware. The barrels and trigger guard are blue and the remaining parts are casehardened. Back action side locks with Purdey style third fastener, gold plated cocking indicators, gold washed internal mechanisms, double gold washed triggers, with front trigger articulated, tang mounted automatic safety with gold "S", rolled trigger guard edges and mounted with high quality, oil finished, hand checkered Turkish walnut splinter forearm with Purdey style push button release and straight grip stock with a checkered bare butt. Length of pull is 14 3/4". Complete with a custom dark brown leather case with a protective canvas cover. The case has leather reinforced corners, leather straps, two traditional key locks, maroon felt lining with a utility compartment, leather Krieghoff label affixed to the inside of the lid and two snap caps.
