Manufactured in 1890. Single bead sight on the concaved smooth solid rib, marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON" and "WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" / RIFLE TRIALS LONDON". 2 3/4" chambers, barrels gauge at modified/improved modified with extractor. Casehardened action and side plates with blue on the remaining parts. The action, side plates, trigger guard, forearm hardware are engraved with fine English scroll. The bottom of the action is marked "THE ROYAL / PATENT / SAFETY HAMMERLESS", each side plate is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and the break lever is marked with a gold number "2" over "HOLLAND / & / HOLLAND / PATENT / No 23". The barrel flats are marked with various proofs, tonage marking and each side is marked "SLEEVED". Double triggers, cocking indicators, tang mounted safety and mounted with nicely grained oiled finished checkered walnut splinter forearm and round knob pistol grip stock with a solid black leather recoil pad and silver initial oval. Complete in a brown leather takedown hard case with leather corner protectors, double leather straps, purple felt lining with Holland & Holland label affixed to the inside of the lid and two snap caps.

Professionally refinished, with virtually all of the blue and casehardened finishes remaining, showing only light overall handling marks. The wood also shows only light handling marks overall with sharp checkering. The case is excellent with some light wear and a few minor scuffs and scrapes and minimal lining wear. One of the straps separated and has been repaired.
