Description:

Referred to as the "Alaskan" or "Philippine" model due to the distinctive oversized trigger guard with approximately 4600 of these revolvers purchased by the Army to replace the .38 caliber New Army Model Double Action revolver. Blue finish with checkered Rampant Colt hard rubber grips with a lanyard loop on the butt. The right side of the frame is stamped "U.S." and dated "1902". The initials "J.T.T." are stamped on the right corner of the frame above the grips. The Ordnance sub inspector's initials "R.A.C." are stamped on the rear face of the cylinder, on the left front of the trigger guard bow and on the left rear of the frame above the grips. "P" firing proof on the rear face of the cylinder and the underside of the barrel is marked with a "P" and "K". Matching numbers on the grip strap, loading gate, and cylinder. Standard one line Hartford barrel address with "45 COLT" on the left side. A circled Rampant Colt is located on the left side of frame.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 70% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray pitting with some thinning to a brown. Even pitting on the backstrap. Extensive patches of deep pitting are present on top of frame, rear frame, and on various sections of barrel. There is a repaired chip on the right panel, otherwise the grips are fine with some scattered mild handling marks with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
