This is an example of a desirable 38-55 chambered pre-WWI produced Winchester Model 1894 rifle as manufactured in 1907. The rifle is equipped with a special order 28 inch octagon barrel. The top flat is marked with the standard two line address/patent date marking ahead of the rear sight and "38-55" at the breech, with the factory proof on the barrel and receiver. Upper tang has the three line model and trademark information. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with steel forend cap, sling swivels, and a special order checkered steel shotgun buttplate.

Fine. The rifle retains 70% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina with limited minor spotting. The hammer and lever retain flashes of original case colors with the balance a smooth silver gary patina overall. The wood is excellent with some minor dings and scratches.

Manufactured from 1914 to1927. Standard markings including the factory proof on the barrel and bolt, dovetail front sight, rear sight removed (Marble's filler block added), and a M.S.A. Co. tang peep sight, with a smooth straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Good. The rifle retains limited traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a smooth brown-gray patina with some minor spotting on the trigger guard. The stock is fine with a hairline crack near the rear of the receiver, a few shallow gouges, and some minor dings and scratches.
