Description:

Manufactured from 1862 to 1865. Blade and three leaf rear sight, with "V / P/ eagle head", "STEEL H.S.L." and "1863" on the barrel at the breech. The lock plate is also dated 1863 with American eagle over "U.S" followed by "REMINGTON'S / ILION, N.Y." and "L" in front of the hammer. Smooth straight grip stock with brass forearm tip, 2 barrel bands, sling swivels, patch box and smooth "U.S." marked buttplate. The left stock flat has two clear cartouches.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. A protective coating has been applied to the metal surfaces with the barrel retaining much of the thinning original blue finish with some minor flash pitting. The stock is also very fine with exception of a minor crack near the upper tang and an indentation on the forearm from the front barrel band with some minor dings and scratches overall. The cartouches are clear.
