Description:

Also known as the Model 1864, this Model 1863 Type II rifle musket has a blade front sight/bayonet lug and two leaf rear sight on a barrel marked with V/P/eagle head proofs. The barrel is dated 1864 and the barrel bands are secured with springs. The lock plate is dated 1864 and has the eagle and shield motif next to "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD". The eagle and shield motif is also on the bolster. Sling swivel located on the trigger guard and middle barrel bands. The left stock flat has two cartouches. Has the tulip head type ramrod. Complete with a "US" marked socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Good. The metal surfaces have been cleaned with some minor pitting and some light spotting. The stock is very good with a hairline crack on the left stock flat and a minor chip missing in front of the trigger guard, along with some minor dings and scratches. The bayonet has been cleaned with some minor spotting. Mechanically fine.
