Produced without sights, with "PATENTED 1837 CAST-STEEL" on one of the barrel ribs. A large scroll pattern is etched on the nipple shield, with scroll engraving on the sides of the frame and scalloped borders on the backstrap. The side of the hammer is marked "ALLEN'S PATENT", with matching numbers on the barrel, hammer, spur trigger guard, the frame under the grips, hammer spring and both of the smooth bag shaped grips, with a German silver oval on each side.

Fine, with 90% of the slightly faded original blue finish, concentrated on the barrel, with 30% bright blue on frame with a mixed gray and brown patina, dings and handling marks overall. Grips are also fine, with some scratches and dents. Mechanically excellent.
