Description:

Early pre-war, pre-Nazi Mauser Banner rifles were actually transition rifles between the very first commercial Mauser Banners and the actual Banners, purchased by the German Army for initial use. The top of the front receiver ring is marked with the Mauser Banner logo over "1934" for the year of manufacture, the left side is marked with the commercial Crown over B, U, G and N" proofs along with the early serial number followed by a diamond shape. The receiver side wall has the commercial markings of "MAUSER -WERKE A.G.OBERNDORF A.N." and the left rear of the barrel is marked with the serial number followed by a diamond shape. The stock and handguard are the correct pre-war walnut version with finger grooves on the sides with a flat metal buttplate. It has all the correct early milled components, barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate. It is complete with the original cleaning rod, leather sling, and a bayonet with metal sheath. The bayonet has a bright blade and has a Nazi "eagle/WaA" proof under the right scale.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 70% original blue finish with the balance between a smooth brown and gray patina, with some mild pitting contained to the front band. The trigger guard assembly is nearly void of finish. The wood is fine with a few minor gouges and some minor dings, scratches, and pressure dents. The bayonet has some minor scratches, with some minor dings on the wood. The sheath retains nearly 97% original blue finish thinning to a gray patina.
