Description:

Manufactured from 1866 to 1870 with a total production of around 6,500, this was Remington's first Rolling Block Pistol and it is easily identified by its distinctive spur trigger. The Rolling Block action is generally considered as one of the strongest actions ever made. The top of the barrel is marked with the naval anchor, and the right side of the frame is marked with the inspector's markings "P / F.C.W." The left side of the frame is marked "REMINGTON ILION N.Y. U.S.A. / PAT. MAY 30 NOV. 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1866". The serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel ahead of the forearm. The front sight is the standard fixed pinched style and a notch in the top of the breechblock serves as the rear sight. Casehardened frame, with a smooth trigger, checkered breechblock handle and hammer spur, smooth walnut forearm and smooth one piece grip with a boxed "HW" cartouche on the lower left side.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 40% thinned original blue finish with some minor pitting. The trigger sheath retains 90% of the faded original blue finish. A hole has been drilled in front and behind the trigger (reason unknown). The frame retains flashes of original case colors, otherwise has aged to a gray patina. Overall there is some minor spotting. The grip is very good with some chips missing from the bottom edge and numerous minor pressure dents on the butt, along with some minor dings and scratches. The cartouche is legible. The forearm is very good with numerous minor handling marks.
