This is an example of an early Mauser K98 rifle equipped with Carl Zeiss scope. The scope is mounted on a unique double claw mounting system. The rings and mounts are integral to the scope and both are numbered to the gun. A large base is soldered to the front receiver ring with a dove tailed piece the claw fits into. The rear base is much smaller and houses the release latch. The scope is marked "Zielvier / Nr 22529 / Zeiss logo" and has leather lens caps. The top center mounting adjusting dial is absent of any graduation markings. The left side of the front receiver ring and breech end of the barrel are marked with the Nazi firing proof and the serial number, and the left side of the receiver wall is marked "Mod. 98". There are various parts marked with "eagle/WaA655" proofs and the matching serial number. All machined parts. Hooded front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters, slotted cleaning rod and mounted with a laminated pistol grip stock with matching handguard, cupped buttplate and dark brown leather sling. The right side of the buttstock is marked with an eagle proof over "H" (army issue) and two "eagle/WaA655" proofs, with the matching serial number on the bottom and two smaller proofs in the grip area. Complete with a brown leather scope case with shoulder strap.

Near mint as professionally restored/custom made. The barrel shows some thinning and there is some minor pitting on the forward portion of the barrel. The barrel bands are thinning and there are areas of smooth brown patina. The stock is excellent with a few minor dents and handling marks and clear markings. The sling is good showing some wear. The scope case is excellent. The markings are crisp and clear. The scope is near mint with clear optics.
