A) Danish Krag Jorgensen Bolt Action Military Infantry Carbine with Bayonet

Description:

This is an example of a Model 1889 Danish Krag Infantry carbine. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number followed by "M.89 crown/HV 1941"(made under German Occupation), the left rear of the barrel is marked "F. 123493" and the top is marked with the letter "C" over a block "C / crown/41 / crown/DK ". Blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters, and mounted with a full one piece straight grip stock with iron buttplate, sling swivels and marked "crown/HV/41" on the left side at the receiver. Complete with a 1889 bayonet with checkered hard rubber handle and a leather scabbard with metal throat and tip. The pommel has "24D.129" struck and is restamped "32B. 74" and the tip is marked "39B / 536". The blade is marked "ALEX COPPEL / SOLINGEN".

Rating Definition:

Fine. The rifle retains 60% faded original blue finish with some thinning to a smooth plum on the barrel and a smooth brown patina on the barrel bands and bayonet lug. There is a small amount of scattered minor spotting on the barrel. The stock is very good with some scattered minor dings and dents. The markings are crisp. The action is fine. The bayonet and scabbard are very good.

Description:

This is a very scarce carbine with only 25,000 made in 1923, as described on pages 142& 143 of The Krag Rifle by Brophy. Dated 1923 on chamber below the Kongsberg Arsenal marking and the left side is marked with the serial number over an intertwined "SJ". Matching serial number on the rear barrel band, inside of the magazine and bolt handle. Blade front sight and rear tangent military sight adjustable to 2000 meters. Mounted with a full one piece straight grip stock with matching handguard and leather sling. The left side of the stock at the receiver is marked with a proofmark over the serial number and intertwined "SJ". Complete with a Nazi proofed bayonet with a smooth wooden handle. The blade is marked with a "crown/K" and the metal portion of the handle is marked with a Nazi "eagle/WaA84" proofmark.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle retains 80% original thin finish overall thinning on the triggerguard, receiver and magazine mixed with dark patina. There is a small amount of minor pitting on the receiver. The barrel bands and trigger guard have a smooth gray patina. The stock is also very good with a couple small minor gouges and scattered minor dings and dents. The sling is good. The bayonet and scabbard are very good, there are a few minor dents on the handle and the scabbard has a smooth mottled gray patina. All matching numbers. The action is excellent.
