This is a very late war rifle produced at the Mauser factory under French occupation, as a Kreigsmodell. The rifle is absent of any Nazi proof marks and is French "star" proofed (on the left side of receiver). The top of the chamber is marked "Mod. 98 / SVWMB" and the left side is marked with a five pointed star followed by the serial number. The rear barrel step is marked "7,9" and the breech end of top of the barrel is marked an unrecognizable marking followed by "44 D". The parts are all late war stamped parts and the barrel bands are correctly welded and screwed on with the front band numbered to the gun. The finish is all blue. Hooded front sight and rear tangent sight graduated to 2,000 meters and mounted with a one piece walnut stock with a cupped buttplate with the firing pin takedown hole. Complete with a brown leather sling.

Excellent. The rifle retains 90% original blue finish with some thinning on the muzzle, floor plate, trigger guard and bolt handle, and some high edge wear. The stock is very good with a few scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The sling is good with some wear and age cracking. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
