Rating Definition:

Very Fine. The barrels retain 75% original blue finish with a small area cleaned on the right barrel near the muzzle, an area of smooth mottled gray patina on the muzzle of the left barrel and some smooth gray patina on the lower barrel. The break lever retains 90% original blue finish with edge wear and the receiver has a smooth dove gray patina. The wood is also excellent with an attractive tiger strip grain, a few minor dents and dings, and crisp checkering. The engraving remains sharp and the markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine. The only attribution to the inscription on the plaque is the plaque itself and consignor statements. There is no documentation with the lot although we decided the inscription is of the period.
