Description:

1) "Notes on the Interpretation of Aeroplane Photographs (3rd Edition.)" is a military manual printed in France by Army Printing and Stationery Services. Created by the "General Staff (Intelligence),/ General Headquarters,/ February, 1918.", measuring 8 1/4"x13". It is a manual clarifying the use and interpretation of aerial photographs for military communication. 11 pages and a diagram of shadows, with 16 sections such as "trenches and wire", "dug-outs and mine shafts", "railways", "batteries", and "buried cables and air lines". 2) Also included is the "Illustrations to Accompany Notes on the Interpretation of Aeroplane Photographs/ Series A.," also dated February, 1918, measuring approximately 12"x13 3/4" with a 1 1/2" binding. This supplemental book has illustrations of aerial photographs, how to properly read them and an explanation of different features. 63 plates are listed in the contents such as "types of trench construction", "machine gun emplacements", and "fortified shell-holes". The covers of 1 and 2 are both stamped "Topographic Section / Army Engineer School / A.E.F." and "G-2-C. (Topography) / G.H.Q., A.E.F."

Rating Definition:

1) Good with light wear and slight age discoloration on the covers. All pages are bound. 2) Very good. Some moisture damage on the front and back covers, and plate one is attached to the previous page. The binding is good, with the spine just beginning to separate from the rear cover. Pages have some discoloration, but overall are legible and fair.
