Description:

This is an example of a Colt Commercial Government Model semi-automatic pistol that was manufactured in 1920. The pistol has a high polish blue finish, barrel with polished chamber, checkered walnut stocks and a 'two-tone', flat base, magazine. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped: "GOVERNMENT MODEL" above the serial number "C 122878". The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a "W" assembler's marks and the Colt Triangle/VP proof mark. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped: "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45" in two lines. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block followed by the Rampant Colt trademark and the Colt Hartford address in a second, two-line block. An "S" commercial sales marks is stamped on the barrel in front of the lug and on the frame behind the disconnector hole.

Rating Definition:

Near mint as professionally restored. The pistol retains 99% of the aforementioned high polish blue. Visible wear is limited to some very light pitting on the grip safety spur. The frame and slide markings are crisp. The bore has light pitting. The stocks are near mint with sharp checkering. The magazine has 98-99% of the two-tone finish. This is an attractive example of an early, post-WWI Colt Government Model 1911 pistol restored to nearly new condition.
