Manufactured from 1863 to 1875, the New Model Army revolver represented the last of Remington's 44 caliber percussion revolvers with a total of 132,000 produced. The barrel on this revolver has the standard top flat marking: "PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858 / E.REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. NEW YORK. U.S.A / NEW-MODEL". The revolver has a dovetailed brass cone front sight and grooved top strap for the rear sight. Small single letter "M" sub inspection marks are stamped on left side on the frame and barrel flat and on the bottom of both grip panels with the letter "A" on the front of the trigger guard. Blued with casehardened hammer and brass trigger guard. There is no cartouche on the left grip. Matching serial number appears on the bottom barrel flat and left side of the frame under the grip. Complete in a much later produced custom pebble grain leather wrapped case with French cut brown velvet lining. The included accessories are the following: a copper powder flask with game bird and hunting dog motifs, a two cavity iron bullet mold with sprue cutter, an unopened tin of Remington UMC Central Fire percussion caps and reproduction box of 6 44 -100 combustible envelope cartridges.

Excellent. The revolver retains 90% plus of the original bright high polish blue finish with some flaking on the muzzle end of the barrel, cylinder and frame, along with some overall high edge wear. The hammer retains 50% of the original faded case colors. The trigger guard has an attractive, untouched original aged patina. The grips are excellent with a few scattered minor dings. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The bullet mold is fine, retaining traces of blue with the balance a mottled patina with some minor spotting. The flask is fine with a few dents and the percussion tin and box of cartridges are excellent. The custom case is fine.
