Description:

The cannon is approximately 34" long with a bore diameter of 2 inches and trunnions that are 1 1/2 inches long. The trunnions are below center suggesting that the cannon was manufactured circa 1750 to 1800. The cannon has a touch hole, is painted black, and has no visible markings. Has a painted wooden carriage with iron mounts and 33" diameter spoked wooden wheels. The consignor states that the cannon is likely British and was in the well known Lockney cannon collection of Newport Beach (California) for at least 50 years.

Rating Definition:

Poor. The cannon has some deep flakes of metal missing (mostly on the top) with some loss of metal on one of the trunnions. The carriage has some rot which has received some putty filler. The paint shows some flaking with areas of extensive flaking/loss.
