Description:

Manufactured from 1861-'63. The top barrel flat is lightly marked "MANFD FOR SMITH & WESSON BY MOORE'S PAT. FIRE ARMS CO." (very faint). Silver-plated frame and grip straps, with the standard broad scroll engraving on the frame, star burst on the trigger guard and butt, and geometric line engraving on the back strap. Brass post front sight and hammer notch rear sight. Fitted with a square butt varnished grip. With a contemporary brass data plate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 75% original blue finish and the cylinder retains 40% original blue finish with the balance a spotted brown patina. There is some minor pitting mostly on the cylinder. The frame and grip straps retain 95% plus original silver-plating. The engraving is crisp. The grip is very fine with most of the varnish remaining and some minor dings and scratches, with a notch on the left side near the bottom.
