Description:

1) Civil War era U.S. Navy bicorn cocked dress hat, with black velvet exterior, green edged gold cockade on left side with two U.S. eagle buttons and gold tassel, and white and black feathered plume on top, which is held on with a velvet bow in front. Brown leather sweat band and black silk lining, with embossed retailers mark on crown, "The HENDERSON AMES Co." and "F. E. ROGERS". 2) Navy blue felt officer's kepi, with gold laurel wreath and "A H" on brim. Gold ribbon wraparound brim, with two gold U.S. eagle buttons on either side holding leather hat band on. Leather visor, with olive/brown cotton lining, and leather sweat band embossed with retailer "BENZIGER BROS".

Rating Definition:

1) Good, with some loss of velvet along edges. White feathers are discolored and gold tassel has darkened with age. Lining is very good, with the sweat band having light staining and moderate scuffing/scratches. 2) Good, with some moth damage overall. Gold ribbon has darkened with age. Visor has light wear and some wrinkling. Lining is good, with some staining/discoloration. Sweat band is fair, with some staining, edge wear, and is loose in the back.
