Description:

Manufactured circa 1868 to 1881. This fine example of a Model 1 3rd Issue revolver features approximately 60% coverage of New York Style engraving with fine punch dot background, probably from the Nimschke Shop. The engraving covers the sides of the barrel, cylinder flats, sides of the frame and upper back strap. A starburst motif is engraved on each side of the barrel lug with the lower lug having a diamond and dot design. The rear edge of the cylinder and upper back strap have a scallop style border with the lower section of the back strap having a decorative wire and dot engraved design. Standard blade front and notch rear sights with checkered hammer and trigger. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the one line address and three patents. The assembly number "1C" is present on the rear of the barrel lug, front cylinder face and right toe of the frame under the grip, with the serial number on the butt. All nickel finish and fitted with smooth two piece rosewood grips (right panel numbered to another gun).

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The metal surfaces have been cleaned to an even bright finish, with some minor pitting present on the barrel lug and sides of the top strap. The grips are excellent with most of the original varnish remaining and showing some high edge wear and a few very minor dings. Sharp and clear markings and engraving, with excellent mechanics.
