Description:

Manufactured circa 1857 to 1860, this fine Model 1 1st Issue revolver features floral scroll engraving on the rear barrel sides, frame and cylinder with a stippled background. The engraving on the frame is in relief. The side flats of the barrel also have and simple line and dot design, with a wedge of scroll at the front. There is a floral design on the side plate and geometric pattern on the back strap done in a semi-deep relief. Faint one line address is marked on the top of the rib, faint patent marking on the cylinder and the serial number is marked on the butt. The butt is also marked with the letter "F". Matching assembly number "9B" is marked on the cylinder, left side of the front strap under the grip and rear of the barrel lug. Standard blade and notch sights, the barrel and cylinder have been finished in silver, the hammer, trigger, cylinder stop spring and screw heads are finished niter blue and the frame is polished brass. Fitted with smooth rosewood grips, numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Excellent as refinished at the time of engraving. 98% silver remains on the barrel and cylinder, with some darkening with age. Almost all of bright niter blue remains on the small parts with some flaking on the hammer. The grips are very good with 98% original varnish, a small chip on the left heel, some minor lower edge wear and overall scattered minor dings and dents. The engraving remains very crisp. The barrel hinge is tight and the mechanics are excellent.
