Description:

Manufactured from 1857-1860. This revolver is a fine example of the 3rd change of the so called "1st 1st". The change being the diameter of the recoil shield was reduced. Round blade front sight with notched rear sight. The top of the barrel rib is marked in one line "SMITH & WESSON. SPRINGFIELD. MASS." Blued barrel and cylinder with silver plated brass frame. The barrel, cylinder, and grip frame are stamped with matching "diamond" and "B" (blue) indicating it was at some point returned to the factory for rebluing only. Each grip stock is serial numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Good as partially factory refinished. The barrel retains approximately 20% blue finish mostly in protected areas the balance is now a mottled gray patina showing some overall minor handling marks. The cylinder is mostly a mottled gray patina with isolated dark spotting. 85% plus original and strong silver plating remains on the frame exhibiting a few streaks of pleasantly aged mellow brass. The grips are fine with some loss and some delicate pressure marks. Mechanically sound.
