Description:

Manufactured from 1860 to 1868, this Model 1, 2nd Issue revolver features a blade front and notch rear sights, 7 round un-fluted cylinder, square flared butt, blue barrel and cylinder and silver plated brass frame. The top of the barrel is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS" and the cylinder is marked with the patent dates. Fitted with smooth two piece grips. The right panel is numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The cylinder has a smooth brown patina with some scattered mild pitting. The frame retains 97% of the age darkened original silver plating. The grips are very fine with 98% of the original varnish remaining and some minor dings and handling marks.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel and cylinder have a smooth brown patina, with 10% original blue finish remaining on the barrel and 80% on the ejector rod. There is some minor spotting and pitting. The frame retains 90% original age darkened silver plating. The grips are fine with 98% original varnish remaining, a small chip missing on the right panel near the bottom and a hairline crack on the right panel, along with some lower edge wear and minor handling marks. Action needs work as the hammer does not hold a full cock position.
