The top of the barrel is marked with the standard two line Winchester address ahead of the rear sight, the nickel steel/smokeless powder marking near the breech followed by "30 U.S". The bottom of the barrel under the forearm is marked "JPP", and "RECHAMBER 53 J.P.P.". The serial number is marked on the lower tang. All blue finish with casehardened buttplate and mounted with a smooth Schnabel forearm with ebony insert and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrel retains 98% original blue finish with some minor dings and scratches. The receiver retains 95% original blue finish with edge wear, and some scattered minor spotting on the upper tang. There is a drilled and tapped hole on the right front of the receiver, probably for sight mounting. The buttplate has a smooth mottled brown patina. The wood is very fine with scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
