Description:

Also known as the John Brown Model, this Maynard primed belt revolver was manufactured from 1851 to 1857 with about 1000 produced. The 31 caliber, 6 shot manual rotating cylinder has a floral and military etching, with the broad scroll design engraved on the lock, frame and hammer. Blue finish with casehardened frame and silver plated back strap and trigger guard. The top strap is marked "MASS. ARMS CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS" and "MAYNARD'S PATENT SEP. 22, 1845" with eagle/shield motif on door of the Maynard primer. "487" on fixed cylinder pin with no visible number on the frame.

Rating Definition:

Good. The revolver has a mottled gray patina with some minor pitting on the barrel. The cylinder etching is weak but visible. The back strap and trigger guard retain half of original silver plating. The grip is good with some minor pressure dents and scratches with a missing chip on the left side near the bottom. Mechanically good.
