Made in 1856, in the rare "Wells Fargo" configuration, with 3 inch barrel and no provision for an ejector. Cone and hammer notch sights, with the bracketed two line "ADDRESS SAML COLT / NEW YORK CITY" on the top flat of the barrel and the stagecoach holdup scene on the cylinder. The left side of the frame is marked "COLTS / PATENT" and the trigger guard is marked "X" on the left shoulder and "8" below the serial number, which is often seen on Wells Fargo 1849s. A small groove is present around the trigger. Matching numbers on the wedge, cylinder, barrel, cylinder pin, frame, and grip straps. Smooth one piece grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with a mixed brown and gray patina on the steel components, scattered pitting, and some chips and dings concentrated on the muzzle. 40% of the original silver is present on the grip straps, with a fine aged patina on the exposed brass. Grips are good, with mild pressure dents and varnish loss. Mechanically fine.
