Manufactured in 1861. The top barrel flat is marked with the one line New York City address, "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side of the frame, and the Texas Navy scene on the cylinder. Full serial number on cylinder, barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap, with the partial number on the loading lever and wedge. The left side of the trigger guard is stamped with the number "4" and the number "2" on the left barrel lug. The butt is marked "U.S. Police Balto" (presumably Baltimore Police). Research needs to be done on the aforementioned inscription which is definitely original.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 40% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The extensively battered cylinder has a smooth brown patina with numerous dings. The loading lever and frame retain 40% darkened original case colors with the balance a gray patina. There is some minor pitting. The brass has an overall smooth aged patina. The grip is refinished with most of the varnish remaining and a few minor dings.
